Why Join Agecroft?
'We are simply the best club to belong to. It sounds boastful, but we have the most successful senior rowing section of any provincial rowing club in the whole of the country. No exaggeration!
In 2017, we reached the Semi Finals for Club 8s at Henley Women's Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta (Thames Cup), reached Semi Finals of Prince of Wales, Princess Grace at HRR (Both composites) and WLWT 1x at HWR, and losing finalist in J18 1x at HWR.
In 2016 we won the men's Head of the River Jackson Trophy for the fastest club outside London (this is a huge race for over 400 crews which takes place on the Boat race course on the Thames), whilst the Women's first 8 were the Third fastest in the same category at WEHORR. The Women's Senior Quad won at Henley Women's Regatta in 2016, and we saw three other boats reach the last 8. (8+, 2x and J1x) The club has previously won at Henley Royal Regatta, and Henley Women's Regatta and is consistently one of the top clubs in the country with Strength in depth across both Men and Women's Squads.
We have a GB 'Start' squad of senior athletes and a top British Rowing coach, Will Stockton based at Agecroft. Graeme Thomas was selected for the Rio Olympics but sadly had to fly home due to illness. We have had an Agecroft member race at the two previous Olympics in London and Beijing and a number training full time at Caversham with the GB rowing team. We have 4 of our current members training and racing with the GB squad at Caversham and look forward to seeing their success at Worlds and on the road to Tokyo 2020.
It is inspiring to train at Agecroft because we have fantastic athletes and a large, thriving club in a purpose built facility and a great fleet of new boats.
Most importantly, it's fun! Aside from rowing, we have a great social scene across all squads and there is a fantastic atmosphere at the club- a real family feel.
We have a café on Saturdays and Sundays run by the parents of the Juniors squad and members relax in the club house lounge and enjoy bacon butties, homemade muffins and tea cakes between training sessions.
What are you waiting for...?
