100km Row For Change + 160th AnniversaryThis September the club hosted the biggest event in its modern day history, since the new boathouse opening 17 years ago! On Sunday, 12th September we held a 160th Club Anniversary Family Fun Day - with BBQ, taster sessions in play boats for kids, bouncy castle, special bar for the adults - including "AGECROFT" beer and "AGECROFT" Gin + more!
On top of this we hosted one of the UK's Centurion Challenge events happening that day across the country, with the club supporting one of our athletes to row 100km up and down the Ship Canal and River Irwell between Salford Quays and Manchester City Centre, throughout the day's festivities. This is in aid of our Row for Change programme. Contact James Harris via [email protected] for more information or how to support the club. Agecroft Rowing Club 100km 'Row For Change' |
One athlete from Agecroft Rowing Club rowed 100km on Sunday 12th September to raise money to establish a youth rowing programme with local schools. The club wants to improve access to the sport for local young people and is looking to work with five local high schools and teach groups to row. The club is aiming to raise £30,000 to fund two new boats that will be stable enough for complete novices.
Robbie Macfarlane completed the challenge in 10 hours and burned around 5,500 calories through that time, but the whole club supported as different crews helped him complete the challenge. There is a JustGiving page for the Row for Change programme, click on the 'Donate Now' link... |
